Nutrients are the Biggest Anti-Aging Power People Have!
Nutrients are THE KEY factor in in Overall Wellness and faster recovery from illnesses.
One of our GOAL at WMS is to help midlife women AVOID the pitfalls of poor health during their younger years and lead them down the path of what is possible for all – a healthy, vibrant, strong, disease free, mentally and physically strong old age that they will enjoy and treasure with the family.
Nutrients are carried in the blood. And our blood is like the gas of a car. It carries the nutrients to every single cell we have, so the cells can function properly, just as the gas must feed the engine of a car or the car will simply not run. You can water down the gas of your car and/or use cheap gas and the car will not run properly. You can do the same with nutrients. You can get less of what you need but your cells won’t function properly. And EVENTUALLY, the cells will give up and die earlier than they could have. Our body has the capability to function optimally IF WE GIVE IT WHAT IT NEEDS!
Nutrients are critical! We are a society of OVER FULL – and UNDER NOURISHED! And WOMEN are most likely to get an autoimmune disease AND most likely to be under nourished!
Most of us know that good nutrition is important for good health. However, when we hear that an amazing new multivitamin or supplement just hit the shelves, it can make us wonder if the foods we're eating are good enough for what our bodies require, and why do we need supplements?
According to the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, "Nutritional needs should be met primarily from foods. Individuals should aim to meet their nutrient needs through healthy eating patterns that include nutrient-dense foods ... [which] contain essential vitamins and minerals and also dietary fiber and other naturally occurring substances that may have positive health effects."
So then why do more than half of all Americans take one or more dietary supplements daily or on occasion? The biggest reasons are WE DON’T eat properly and our foods are DEPLETED of Essential nutrients.
A few reasons why we may not be getting the nutrient we need include;
- Poor eating habits
- Poor appetite due to drugs and/or alcohol
- Limitations to foods due to allergies, vegan diet or medical conditions
- Pregnancy needs (folic acid, iron)
- Aging needs (difficulty getting Vitamin B12 and D)
- Health Conditions
- Nutrient Deficiencies with specific requirements
Our environment also plays a large role in why we do not get what our bodies need in the form of supplements.
Improper farming practices deplete the soil of essential nutrients. When plants are repeatedly grown on the same land, the soil loses vitamins, minerals, and microbes faster than they can be replaced. Over time, the plants have fewer nutrients to grow. Fertilizer contains just enough nutrition for the plant to survive until harvesting, but not enough to support human health. In addition, most plants are not harvested fresh. They sit on trucks, shelves, and counters for weeks before being eaten. Over time, the nutrient content of these plants decreases.
We are also EXPOSED to so many TOXINS on a daily basis than in past years. Your body needs nutrients to deal with those toxins.
Here are just some of the things your body has to contend with:
- Xenoestrogens (plastics, BPA, some molds, petroleum products).
- Industrial solvents and cleaners.
- Unnatural lighting.
- Food toxins
- Stress and lack of sleep
